Value Circles

October 6, 2010

Students loved the results of this value activity.  They traced a circle onto white construction paper using an empty water bucket.  Draw a line of movement across the center of the circle.  Repeat the line above and below.  Demonstrate how to use charcoal pencils to create value, pressing hard for black and very lightly for gray.  Cut out circle.  Glue onto colored construction paper. Cut out again, leaving a sliver of color showing.  Mount on black construction paper.  Simple but great idea from Nana Booth, an art consultant who visited our district in August.
