Candy Line Design

October 18, 2010

Every Thursday, the workers at a local convenient store unload boxes of candy to put on their shelves.  The manager graciously saves the boxes for me to use in art.  I love the boxes because they are bright and appealing to kids and I knew they would have a blast choosing a candy label and creating a line design around it.  I trimmed around the name of the candy and gave kids the choice of their favorite.  They glued the label down to a sheet of 9 x 12 white construction paper.  They chose markers that matched their candy label and then began creating a line design that filled up the page…..zigzags, curves, circles, waves, loops, etc.  The kids had so much fun making these pictures.
