Mother’s Day Flower Bouquet

March 31, 2012

Kindergarten and first grade students have been hard at work creating a special handmade piece of art for their moms for Mother’s Day.  We sketched a variety of flowers and vases on a practice sheet until kids felt confident about drawing their picture.  Students used a black crayon to draw their vase, making sure they added a line design onto it.   Next they drew in their flowers.  On day two, they used oil pastels to add bright color to their flowers, vase and table.  Last of all, students painted a watercolor wash over their picture.  I believe teachers will attach a handwritten letter from the student to their mom onto the back of the picture.
